How to Bleed Hydraulic Brakes (DYISLAND) for Electric Scooters Tutorial

I have a Chinese generic electric scooter and has some generic type hydraulic brakes. The brake levers indicate that it's from DYISLAND brand. Mine only lasted a few months tops before completely losing brake pressure. I have done adjusting the screw on the brake levers many times to bring pads closer to the disc but they lose pressure in a day later. And there is no tutorial found for this specific type of brake bleeding on YouTube so I decided to take a shot and got myself a brake bleed kit and mineral oil on amazon and bleed the brakes myself. It was successful. Here is the video of how I have done it. Hope that it helps others to solve brake issue.

Ok here is my experience on the result of brake bleeding after 100 miles. The braking has definitely improved. There is still some play in the brake levers when braking but it has enough meat and power to stop the scooter reasonably fast. I also had to adjust the screws in brake levers to fine tune the spacing between the brake pads and the disc. Before I did the brake bleeding the scooter was useless cause it could barely stop...adjusting the screws didn't matter as it kept losing pressure on the brakes. But it is okay for now. I will be performing a new project on further increasing brake power on these generic type hydraulic brake systems for the electric scooters soon. Stay tuned..

Ok after a couple hundred miles of use it started losing brake power.. Even though the pressure is there, the brake pads fail to "grip" or "bite" the disc well... Braking performance lost gradually after a while. Found out that braking power severely reduces when there is not enough "mass" in the brake pads due to wear. I made an experimental project by adding mass to the brake pads by applying metal epoxy on the outer side of the brake pads where the pistons meet. I applied 1 to 2 mm thickness layer to it. Then sanded the surface to smooth them out. To my surprise (unexpected) the braking power is restored like new. It feels like I have brand new brake pads. It stops effortlessly when I lightly apply brakes. Here is the video explaining this. I just wanted to share my experimentation and it appears to be one of the good alternative fix if you can't get new brake pads due to backorder or extensive time waiting...

So this is my Brake Pad mod for restoring braking power on the electric scooter

In the coming days I have another brake fix project coming. Hopefully that will be the second alternative solution for fixing brake issue. Stay tuned..

Here is the special bleed valve method for bleeding (and filling oil) the DYISLAND hydraulic brakes. The brakes are super responsive now. The braking power is at maximum and there is virtually no play in the brake levers when you apply brakes. This is by far the most effective mod for braking performance. It turns your scooter brakes into racing brakes. And it's a bit pricey, $60 for two (front and back).

    - M6x1.0x16mm

    Other tools you will need:
    - Hydraulic Brake Bleed Kit
    Robot Check
    - Mineral Oil Brake Fluid
    Robot Check
    - 1/4" ID Tubing for fitment for the flange and bleeder to work.

Note: Don't use large o-ring gaskets as it will cause leak. You have to use smallest o-ring gaskets that come in the brake bleeding kit.. at least 3 small rings for each valve. It seems to do the trick keeping it air tight no leakage.
